I am a medical doctor working in medical center, and specialized in critical care and pulmonary medicine. I have been in charge of Medical Intensive Care Unit, respiratory critical care unit, regular wards, and outpatient clinics. For academic qualification, I studied in physiology and got the master degree in 2011, and specialized in pharmacology and got the doctoral degree in 2016. Translation medicine is my favorite, and fortunately I have published several articles, some of them are in high citation journals, with topics in this field. I believe that translation the findings of basic science into clinical practicable management for human diseases are the aim of medical research. Alternatively, a clinical dilemma could be a valuable research topic to discover the resolution and update the knowledge of science. I will keep on moving for it. I have been an executive editor of International Journal of Gerontology, and put effort and luckily made it qualified as one of the SCI journal in the very first years in 2008, and the journal got its highest citations in 2009.   Biography :

Dr. Morteza Seifi studied the MSc Clinical Biochemistry at Tehran University of Medical Science (TUMS) from 2007-2009. During the time, he worked at Cellular and Molecular Research Center (CMRC) of TUMS and learned and mastered several molecular genetics and bioinformatics techniques. In 2010, he joined the Medical Genetics division of Legal Medicine Organization of Tabriz and continued his working there till 2013. Currently, he is a third year PhD student in Medical Genetics at the University of Alberta. He has received several academic awards, authored or co-authored numerous publications and was selected as member of Golden Key International Honour Society (being among the top 15% of students) in 2014. He is as reviewer and editorial board member for several internationally recognized journals. His PhD program focuses on association of Axenfeld-Rieger syndrome (ARS) with FOXC1 and PITX2 mutations. ARS is primarily an eye disorder, although it can also affect other parts of the body. About 50% of ARS patients develop glaucoma, a progressive blindness. A wide variety of computer-based bioinformatics studies, state-of-the-art techniques and experimental lab research, are being used by him to discover new mutations in the FOXC1 and PITX2 genes (and the genes that are regulated by either PITX2 or FOXC1) and then to characterize how the disease causing mutations interrupt FOXC1 and PITX2 function. It is his hope that better understanding of the function of PITX2 and FOXC1 together with knowledge of the genes regulated by these two transcription factors will lead to improved glaucoma detection and treatments.

He completed training in New York and continued a NIH Fellowship in cardiology at Tulane University School of Medicine, also working at the Charity Hospital and Veterans Administration Hospital in New Orleans. He returned to New York Medical College to continue researching actions of inotropic agents, myocardial function, preservation of ischemic myocardium, and cardiogenic shock, eventually relocating in Texas. An avid supporter of applications of biochemistry and physiology, he continued teaching and publishing, emphasizing translational research. In addition to presentations, lectures, has mentored medical students and house staff at several medical schools and affiliated hospitals. His interests gradually turned to the role pathological signaling plays in the pathogenesis of atherothrombosis, especially the interaction of inflammatory mechanisms, endothelial dysfunction, mitochondrial involvement in disease, lipid metabolism, metabolic syndrome and related evidence-based interventions to improve clinical outcomes. Fundamental mechanisms and molecular and cellular cardiology have been central to his work, as well as the practical aspects of how simple lifestyle and dietary changes may be powerful tools to minimize risk factors. During the course of his academic career he has received several scholarships, awards, and grants. His work includes publications in peer-reviewed medical journals, books, presentations, and lectures.
