Biography :

I am a health care professional with a background in Medical Imaging with over 30 years of experience in both public and private health care systems (UK and Australia). I have extensive experience in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound examinations and interpretation as well as general and vascular ultrasound. I completed a PhD in medicine 2015 at the university of Western Australia. My PhD thesis was on the impact of maternal depression and anxiety on the feto-placental circulation. My research interests are in Doppler ultrasound, fetal medicine and feto-placental circulation. I am also a keen advocate to raise the profile of Sonographers in Australia and New Zealand. I actively promote Sonographer lead research and take part in various educational activities and have presented research papers nationally and internationally. I am a member of many educational and research committees through my associate fellowship with the Australasian Sonographers Association(ASA). I am a reviewer for the journal "Sonography" and a DMU examiner for Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM).

Research Interest :

I am a keen advocate for raising profile of sonographers in Australia and aim to encourage sonographer lead research. Through my membership with the Australasian Sonographers Association (ASA) special interest group (SIG) research committee, I played a key role in establishment of the first ASA journal club to promote discussions around research amongst the ASA members. Having successfully implemented and completed the ultrasound aspect of The Peel Child Health Study (www.peelchildhealthstudy.com.au) in collaboration with Murdoch University and the University of Western Australia, I am keen to continue my research in the field of fetal medicine. My special interest is in the study of human’s feto-placental circulation using non-invasive Doppler ultrasound techniques.
