Dr. Utkan ias a Associate Professor at Chemical Engineering Department of Marmara University. She was graduated from Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkey and did her masters at Materials Science and Engineering Department as well as Polymer Science and Engineering Department of Lehigh University (USA). She took her Ph.D. from Chemical Engineering Department of Hacettepe University (Turkey) . Then, joined to TUBITAK, Marmara Research Center, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute as Chief Researcher. She is an author of many international publications and involved in national and international projects as reseacher and principal investigator.

Graphene derivatives production and characterization, nanoparticles (magnetic, metallic and polymeric) synthesis and characterization, preparation and characterization of composites, applications of nanomaterials such as bioseparation, biosensor, non-viral gene delivery, controlled drug release and diagnostic kits.
