Biography :

As a student of biosciences I have completed Ph D degree in Insect Biochemistry Research on the Topic "Cholesterol absorption in locusts". Doctorate Degree awarded in Dec. 1997 from University of Delhi under joint registration with National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi. 110067. I have two different specializations in M. Sc: Specialization Fisheries, M. Sc: Specialization Entomology. I am M. Phil: Wild life Conservation, Topic:"Ecological behavior of the common Hanuman Langur Persbytis entellus entulles Dufresne". Soon After completion of Ph. D I joined as a research Associate at School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in year 1998. In Year 1990, I joined as a lecturer at Agra University, Agra and taught for three years (1997-2000). Then I joined as a Research Associate at National Research Centre for Plant Biotechnology and worked for Rice Genome sequencing up to April 2001. From April 2001 I joined as Assistant Professor, in Department of Zoology, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur, promoted as Professor in year 2016 and continuing my services here and involved both in research and teaching I have successfully completed three research projects sponsored by different Govt agencies. UGC sponsored major research project “Production of polyclonal antibodies against animal toxins by using natural and synthetic toxin peptides”. CSIR sponsored major research project “Characterization and immunocytochemical localization of cholesterol binding proteins”. UGC sponsored major research “Antibacterial and antifungal activity of certain plant essential oils and their major constituents against drug resistant pathogens. Presently, I am reviewer of more than 120 journals and member of editorial board on 20 reputed journals. I have published more than 132 publications in various journals.

Research Interest :

My main thrust area is cholesterol metabolism in insects, mainly role of cholesterol binding proteins in cholesterol transport and absorption. Termite control by using different plant based formulations, evaluation of antimicrobial action of plant natural products, purification of animal toxins, its toxicity determination and neutralization by using polyclonal antibodies in animal models. The goal is to develop poly-specific single antibody as a prophylactic agent for treatment of envenomated patients.
