I was born on the 3rd of October 1954 in Zagreb where I finished elementary school and high school (Classical Gymnasium). In the year 1973 I enrolled in the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb where I graduated in the year 1978. I have completed my internship in Sisters of Charity University Hospital (then called M. Stojanovic Hospital). After I passed the state exam I started working at the Department of Oncology and Nuclear Medicine as a physician. In the year 1984 I started my residency in radiotherapy, and passed the residency exam in the year 1987. Since then I have been working in the Departement of Oncology and Nuclear Medicine of the Sisters of Charity University Hospital in Zagreb. At first I participated in intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy procedures. In the later years, I introduced ambulatory systemic anticancer treatment and, subsequently, daily hospital unit. In 2005 I was elected for the Head of the Departement of Oncology, and since 2016 I am the Head of the Department of Oncology and Nuclear Medicine of the Sisters of Charity University Hospital. I defended my master's thesis „ Thyroid hormones and tyrotropin in breast cancer patients“ (mentor: prof. Z. Kusic, MD) in the year 1991, and my doctoral thesis „ The influence of postoperative treatment on the immune system of breast cancer patients“ (mentor: prof. J. Lukac, MD) in the year 1996. I participate in graduate and postgraduate studies in the School of Dental Medicine and School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, in the oncology field. In the year 1991 I was elected for an assistant professor at the Chair of oncology, School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb. In the year 2004 I was for the first time elected as a full professor of oncology and reelected in the year 2012. From 2012 I was elected for the Head of the Chair of Oncology, School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb. From 1993 I am an authorized examiner of Faculty of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb students. I am the mentor of over 60 MSc theses written in the Departement of Oncology, Faculty of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb. I was the Principal Investigator of many scientific studies. I participated in many domestic and foreign conferences, meetings and seminars and published over 100 publications in the oncology field. From 1988 to 1992 I was the secretary of Radiotherapy section of the Croatian Medical Association. I am the member of board of directors of the Croatian Association of Clinical pharmacology. I am the member of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO), Departement of Medical Scinces of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Art and the member of the Committee on genomics and proteomics in oncology, also at the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Art.
