Biography :

Dr. Yoshio Uehara graduated from University of Tokyo in 1976 and received PhD from University of Tokyo in 1983 for investigation of endothelial prostacyclin and hypertension. In 1983, he was involved in research on salt and hypertension at Dept. of Medicine, Minnesota state university hospital. In 1985,he was offered a position of assistant professor of Tokyo University Hospital, and in 1999, associate professor and director HealthServices Center, University of Tokyo. In 2009, he was professor, clinical nutrition, Kyoritsu Women’s University. He is a member of Japanese Society of Hypertension (specialist, FJSH), Japanese Society of Cardiology (specialist), Japanese Society of Nephrology (specialist), Japanese Society of Endocrinology. He is a member of committees of Japanese government and Life science foundation, Tokyo, Japan.He is a physician and researcher of hypertension and organ damage and nutrition-related cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. His work has been published thus far in 147 international peer-review journals and in 316 literatures in Japanese medical journals. He presented more than 450 papers as invited lectures or at international symposiums and scientific meetings. Research Interest :

Salt and hypertension, mechanism and therapeutics by molecular biological and physiological approach.Genetic analysis of nutrition-behavior and the pathophysiological association of nutrition with cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Exploring novel natural substances promoting health are also within my scope of investigation. Nutrition and epigenetic mechanism for adult metabolic diseases. He is very interested in the role of salt during gestation in offspring health.
