Biography :

Dr. Tsai majored in biology related subjects in college and obtained PhD in biochemistry at University of Massachusetts. Later, Dr. Tsai went to Harvard School of Public Health for post-doctoral research on parasitic schistosomiasis and epidemic related areas. He has always been devoted to biochemistry research with numerous outstanding achievements. In recent years, he focuses on medical data mining and big dada analysis. In the end of 2011, Dr. Tsai received subsidy from Ministry of Science and Technology and headed for the department of dermatology at University of California, San Diego (UCSD) to conduct colorectal cancer vaccine research and development. In addition to colorectal cancer, another Dr. Tsai’s representative publication is The Analysis and Application of Machine Learning in Gene Chip Big Data. For ovarian cancer, in particular, he published A Bio-inspired Computing Model for Ovarian Carcinoma Classification and Oncogene Detection on Bioinformatics, ranked top five in bio-information area, in 2015. The research employed machining learning and data mining model to detect ovarian cancer patients with the target gene information. With further subsidy in 2016 for the project, Study of Metabolic Pathway and Genetic Network Mapping in Different Pathological Stages of Ovarian Cancer Based on Spatial Analysis, Data Mining Algorithms and Biological Experimental Methods, Dr. Tsai exerts cellular automata algorithm on the alignment of biological gene sequences and the outcome is extraordinary. In The 2017 World Multi-Conference on Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, Dr. Tsai also published A Hybrid Filter and Wrapper Algorithms for Genetic Pathway Analysis of Ovarian Cancer Microarray Dataset, combine neural network algorithm and gene algorithm for target gene research. What’s more, he published A New Cellular Automata Based Converter for Genetic Sequences and An Automation System for Biological Sequence Alignment in two international conferences, The 2013 2nd International Conference on Advances in Biological and Pharmaceutical Sciences and The 2013 4th International Conference on Biology, Environment and Chemistry, respectively. In other aspects, Classification of Dementia Based on Over-Sampling Approach and Decision Tree is published by Dr. Tsai in The 2018 International Conference on Big Data and Education. These all reflects his exceptional research capability and quality.
