Biography :

I am passionate about bioinformatics and research on surgical quality using Taiwan National Health Insurance Reimbursement Database. My clinical specialty is surgical oncology on gastric and pancreatic cancer. In addition to M.D. degree, I had earned the Ph.D. (Graduate Institute of Biomedical Electronics and Bioinformatics in National Taiwan University) focusing on both development of telecare on surgical patients and data-mining on electronic medical records. During that time I also published some clinical papers to address the change of glucose metabolism associated with enteral bypass on Whipple operation and total gastrectomy. Currently, my surgical outcome studies included 1. Analysis of 30-, 60-, and 180-day all-cause mortality on gastric cancer patients after total gastrectomy using Taiwan nationwide database 2. Effect of pre-Whipple biliary intervention (PTCD/ERBD) on positive bile cultures and increased antimicrobial resistance using data at National Taiwan University Hospital (annual volumes of Whipple operation: 100-120 cases) Further, I have received a 3-year grant from Ministry of Science and Technology in Taiwan, and the aim was to create a system to detect the wound infection and monitor wound healing based on artificial intelligence.
