Biography :

Professor Evgeny Gordov graduated from the Tomsk State University with Diploma in Physics in 1968. He had got PhD (Candidate of Sciences (Phys.&Math.) from the Tomsk State University in 1974 and Doctor of Sciences (Phys.&Math.) degree in 1984. He worked as a Junior Researcher, Senior Researcher, Principal Researcher, Scientific Secretary and Laboratory Head at the Institute of Atmospheric Optics (Siberian Brunch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Tomsk) from 1968 till 2002. Since 2002, he is the Head of Siberian Center for Environment Research and Training (SCERT) and Principal Researcher at the Institute of Monitoring of Climatic and Ecological systems (IMCES) of Siberian Brunch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Tomsk. He is Professor of the Meteorology and Climatology Chair, Tomsk State University (part time) and Head of Laboratory of Regional Monitoring Problems, Institute of Computational Technologies SB RAS, Novosibirsk (part time). He published six monographs, four Chapters in Collective monograph and 170 research publications (100 in refereed journals and 70 in Proceedings of National and International conferences). He performs and managed research and accompanying measure projects in area of Earth Science and Informatics for several externally sponsored programs from conception to finalization, co-ordinating Siberia Integrated Regional Study as a part of the Northern Eurasia Earth Science Initiative (neespi.org). In addition, he is Chair of biannually multidisciplinary Conference on Environmental Observations, Modeling and Information Systems ENVIROMIS and Young Scientists School and international conference on Computational Information Technologies for Environmental Sciences.

Research Interest :

Major activities are in area of Earth system Informatics and physics of climate: basic and applied. Current research interests are in development of information-computational Infrastructure for regional environmental study, climatic and environmental changes in Northern Eurasia with special emphasis on meteorological and climatic extremes and their impact on regional environment.
