In addition, from July 2016 until now she is employed at the Laboratory of Ischemic and Neurodegenerative Brain Research, Mossakowski Medical Research Centre, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland. In the years 2005-2016 she was employed in the Neurology Clinic of the Central Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Warsaw, Poland. At that time, she was involved in Phase III clinical trials for the treatment of multiple sclerosis by immunomodulation. She finished her M.D. in 2003 and in 2015 she completed Ph.D. in genetics of experimental ischemic model of Alzheimer’s disease at the Medical University of Lublin, Poland. In 2011 she obtained the title of specialist in the field of neurology with honors. In 2011 she was scientific visitor Faculty of Biology, Department of Physiology and Biochemistry, Center for Laser Microscopy, University of Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia. In 2017 she was scientific visitor Department of Clinical Genetics, Medical University of Lublin, Lublin, Poland. She was awarded by Mossakowski Medical Research Centre of Polish Academy of Sciences in 2016. In the years 1998-2000 she participated in the implementation of the project "Development of an experimental model of Alzheimer's disease" financed by the Committee for Scientific Research, Poland. In the years 2000-2004 she participated in the 5th Framework Program of the European Union, covering the study of total brain ischemia, titled "Gene search towards the identification of novel therapeutic strategies against brain ischemia". In 2001-2003 she participated in the implementation of SPUB from the Scientific Research Committee, Poland entitled "Gene search for the identification of new therapeutic strategies against brain ischemia". In the years 2006-2010 she participated in a project from the European Union Cost Action B30 entitled "Neuronal Regeneration and Plasticity". In 2007-2010 she participated in a project financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Poland entitled "Analysis of gene expression to identify early and chronic neurodegenerative mechanisms and new therapeutic strategies against brain ischemia". In the years 2014-2017 she participated in a project financed from the National Science Center in Cracow, Poland entitled "Searching for common pathological factors in the ischemic brain and in Alzheimer's disease; Genes". Dr Ułamek-Kozioł research is now focusing on both how Alzheimer’s disease develops and the neuropathological consequences of the disease at a gene level in ischemic model of Alzheimer’s disease.
