Biography :

Dr. AstridStuckelberger is a scientist, lecturerand writer at the Institute of Global Health of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva. She conducts research and expertise in topics related to global healthand ageing at different levels: Swiss institutions, national governments, European Commission and United Nations specialized agencies and programmes. She is an internationally recognized expert on issues related to ageing and the future of population ageing, her competencies range from individual to population unto policy aspects, with a strong focus on innovation and technology as well as ethics,in order to find tailored solutions to future ageing and prevention of chronic diseases and pathological ageing.With WHO, she co-founded is the current President of the Geneva International Network on Ageing. She is also the Secretary-general of the International Association of Geriatrics and Gerontology for the European Region and represents them at the United Nations After directing population health research as Deputy-director of the first Center of Interdisciplinary Gerontology at the University of Geneva, she was called as Deputy-director of the Swiss National Research Programme on Ageing 1991-2000.
