Biography :

I attained the degree in Biological Sciences in 1993 at the Università degli Studi di Milano, Milano, Italy. Since 1993 I am a researcher at the Laboratory of Medical Mycology, Dip. Scienze Biomediche per la Salute, Università degli Studi di Milano. The topic of my research activity is medical mycology and, namely, molecular epidemiology of Cryptococcus neoformans, Candida albicans, and Aspergillus fumigatus. My group is one of the leader research group in the survey of cryptococcosis. The group was the coordinator of the first Italian and European survey of cryptococcosis. I also focused my researches on C. neoformans diploid AD hybrids publishing several papers on international journals. I participated together with the ISHAM Cryptococcus Working Group to develop a multilocus sequence typing scheme in order to create a global genotype database. From 2012 to 2015 I was the coordinator of ISHAM Cryptococcus Working Group for Genotyping of C. neoformans and C. gattii. At present I am coordinating a European research group for clinical and environmental survey of Cryptococcus and cryptococcosis. I am author of more than 60 papers in national and international scientific journals, and more than 100 scientific works presented at several congresses
