Biography :

Dr Subhas Mukherjee Memorial Chair Professor and Head of the Dept of Regenerative Medicine and Translational Science & Director General, Cord blood Bank at Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine, (1st Public Cord Blood Bank of the country). Calcutta, India (www.stmkolkata.org) (Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine is more than 100 year old research Institution with fundamental global contribution in Malaria, Kalazar and haematological research. Six FRS scientists and one Nobel laureate received their prizes while working in this institution) (Vide WWW.stm.kolkata.org.) Started the Fellowship course in Regenerative Medicine and Translational Science (1yr Course recognized by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, for training post graduate doctors with interest in stem cell/progenitor cell research with implication in Regenerative medicine. Course coordinator of the programme since inception on 16th April’13 (1st of its type in the country and possibly third in the world). Started PhD programme in Regenerative Medicine (1st of its type in the country).

Research Interest :

 Four years research experience (1976-80) at the Gynae Research Unit, IPGMER, under the Professor/Director, Gynaecology Department, IPGMER, attached to SSKM Hospital.  Four years research experience (1981-84) at the Department of Biochemistry/ Immunology under the Professor/Director, Biochemistry Department, IPGMER, (SSKM Hospital).  Sr Research Associate at Ramkrishna Mission Seva Pratisthan/ Institute of Child Health, Calcutta, (1985 to 1999) along with Prof. K.L. Mukherjee, Head of the Department/ Emeritus Professor/Advisor, Department of Biochemistry, RKM Seva Pratisthan.  Hony. Research Collaborator with Dr. P.R. Dasgupta, DSc, Emeritus Scientist, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Govt. of India, (1984-92).
