Biography :

Dr. De was born on 30th March, 1967 in West Bengal. He graduated in B.Sc.(Ag) Hons. from BCKVV, West Bengal and obtained his both M.Sc and Ph. D. Degree in Horticulture-Floriculture from IARI, Pusa, New Delhi, International Doctor of Literature (DIAMI) and D.Sc. (Honoris Causa) from International Agency for Standards and Rating. Presently, he is a Principal Scientist working at ICAR-NRC for Orchids, Pakyong, Sikkim. He has 24 years research and extension experiences in production and post-harvest technologies of horticultural crops of NEH Region and 4 years experience as Joint Director at ICAR, A.P. Centre.

Research Interest :

He has handled Nationally Funded Projects like NATP on ‘IPNS for Vegetable Production System’, Technology Mission on ‘HMNEH’, Mega Seed Project on flower crops and DUS Project on orchids. He has significant contribution on rejuvenation in citrus, Production technology in gerbera in NE regions, Round the year production of gladiolus in Tripura, in preparation of DUS Test Guidelines on Cymbidium, Dendrobium, Vanda, Cattleya, Phalaenopsis, Oncidium, Mokara and Paphiopedilum orchids, Evaluation and identification of hybrids of Cymbidium, Dendrobium, Vanda, Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, Mokara, Oncidium and Aranda suitable for commercial cultivation for tropical and subtropical and temperate regions, standardization of potting mixtures of Cymbidium, Dendrobium, Vanda, Phalaenopsis, Oncidium and Cattleya, organic nutrient management in orchids, development of protocols of post-harvest technology of Cymbidium and Dendrobium orchids, drying techniques in orchid species and hybrids, packaging techniques of orchid spikes and florets and value addition to Single Use Plastics (SUP) with orchids.
