Biography :

Professor Gwo-Shing Chen is currently the Professor of Dermatology at Kaohsiung Medical University and Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital, Taiwan. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from China Medical University, Taiwan, and received his PhD degree from the University of Kitasado, Japan. He completed his dermatology residency training in 1985, and since then had worked as a full-time dermatologist at Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital. Since 2000, he had been appointed as Director of the Department of Dermatology, Kaohsiung Medical University and Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital. Professor Chen’s research interests include wound healing in diabetes mellitus, pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, cutaneous vasculitis and photomedicine for anti-aging. He had been appointed as a member of the Taiwan Medical Association, Taiwanese Dermatological Society, Chinese Family Medical Society, Japanese Dermatological Association, and Taiwanese Society for Investigative Dermatology. Over the last 10 years, Professor Chen had published more than 100 papers in scientific journals, including the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, British Journal of Dermatology, Experimental Dermatology, and Translational Research. He had undertaken extensive investigations into the effects of high-glucose environment on wound healing in diabetes and the molecular mechanisms involved. He had also performed extensive studies on the patho-mechanisms of atopic dermatitis and psoriasis.

Research Interest :

Study on wound healing in diabetes mellitus, pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis, cutaneous vasculitis and photomedicine for anti-aging.
