I was born and raised mostly in the barrios of Old North Toronto, spending summers in southern Bruce County, which is where my family came from. I am adept at playing the violin and sailing small boats of the Laser class.

My research is supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health, Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and the Foghorn Leghorn Foundation. My research was featured in “Darn Best of 2017,” a profile of the year’s top research by Science magazine.
