Biography :

Dr. Bernard Terkimbi Utoo is a Obstetrician & Gynecological Surgeon with the Benue State University Teaching Hospital. He is a Senior lecturer and currently the Head of Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology of both the College of health sciences, Benue State University and Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi. He graduated from the prestigious William Muckle Bristow Secondary School Gboko in 1987 with matriculation number 2840. He later proceeded to the University of Jos, Plateau State for his undergraduate training after which he bagged the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees (MB, BCh). He did his postgraduate training at the Jos University Teaching Hospital where he rosed from the ranks to become a Consultant. He is a fellow of both the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in the faculty of Obstetrics & Gynecology (FMCOG) and the West African Postgraduate Medical College (FWACS). He is the State coordinator of Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON) on which platform he mobilizes colleagues for maternal health care services in the state and trains/ mentor younger colleagues for reproductive health skill acquisition. His special interest in reproductive medicine is in the area of fertility regulation and oncology. An ardent advocate for women’s health and sexuality rights, Dr. Utoo has 30 research publications in both local and international peer reviewed journals. He is a reviewer and member of editorial board of reputable journals. He is a Member of Medical and Dental Consultants of Nigeria (MDCAN), Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), and Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).

Research Interest :

Dr. Utoo has 30 research publications in both local and international peer reviewed journals. He is a reviewer and member of editorial board of reputable journals. He is a Member of Medical and Dental Consultants of Nigeria (MDCAN), Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), and Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
