I attended University of Istanbul, Cerrahpasa Medical School in 1982 but moved to San Francisco in 1987 to attend University of California in San Francisco for junior and senior year. I had my training in Internal Medicine in Griffin Hospital, a Yale University Affiliated Program, and then moved to New York City to be trained in Hematology Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation at Mount Sinai School of Medicine Hospital. Then I moved back to Turkey and worked at Marmara University in Istanbul as a program director in between 1997-2010 and appointed as Professor of Medicine in 2006. I have over 100 peer reviewed international publications and about 1350 citations to them. I am a member of ASCO, ESMO, EORTC, BUON, TTOD. I am board certified in Medical Oncology until 2016 by ESMO and until 2017 by ABIM. I am recently elected as the President of European Union of Medical Specialists, Oncology Section.
