Prof. Min Li got his PhD from Emory University at Atlanta, Georgia in 2002. Under the supervision of Dr. Richard W. Compans, a world renowned virologist and immunologist, Dr. Li studied the regulation of a retrovirus envelope protein induced membrane fusion and the association with lipid rafts. He then moved on to Baylor College of Medicine at Houston, Texas, and started his career in cancer research as an Assistant Professor in 2004. Dr. Li joined the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Medical School in 2010 as the Director of Cancer Research Program. In 2014, Dr. Li joined the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center as full Professor of Medicine, Surgery, and Cell Biology, and holds Virginia Kerley Cade Endowed Chair in Cancer Treatment. He is the Director of GI Cancer Research in Department of Medicine, and Vice Chair for Research in Department of Surgery at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. His research interests include pancreatic cancer and brain tumor pathogenesis, translational research, and new therapies. Dr. Li's group is the first one to identify a zinc transporter (ZIP4) as a new molecular target in pancreatic cancer and brain tumor, and has developed a novel therapy to treat this malignancy.

William Cheng-Chung Chu is a distinguished professor of the Department of Computer Science. He had served as the Dean of Software Engineering and Technologies Center at Tunghai University from 2004 to 2017, Taiwan. And he also had served as the Dean of Research and Development office from 2004 to 2007. From 1994 to 1998, he was the dean of Engineering College and an associate professor at the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science at Feng Chia University. He was a research scientist at the Software Technology Center of the Lockheed Missiles and Space Company, Inc., where he received special contribution awards in both 1992 and 1993 and a PIP award in 1993. In 1992, he was also a visiting scholar at Stanford University. Dr. Nanda Gopal Sahoo earned his Ph. D. degree in material science from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in 2004. After working for several years with different eminent groups, Dr. Sahoohas joined the Department of Chemistry, Kumaun University, Nainital as Associate Professor in 2013. He worked for the establishment of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Centre at the University. He is among the few BASE fellows sponsored by Indo-US Science and Technological Forum for advancing their research in the field of solar cell development in Virginia Commonwealth University, USA, 2014. Molecular imaging is a field that needs integration of various scientific bases; it not only speeds up the progress of basic biological research, but also leads people to “see” what a molecular can do in a living system and how it interacts with others. The research themes in my lab aim to establish versatile molecular imaging platforms for translational research. We have develop various radiotracers to detect cancer, inflammation, and neurodegenerative diseases. We also labeled nanoparticles with radioisotope to noninvasively determine their pharmacokinetics via imaging.

Prof. Yong Sang Song received his doctor’s degree from Seoul National University, Korea in 1983. He worked in Unviersity of Wyoming, Laramie, as research fellow in Department of Molecular Biology in 1997, and then as associate Professor from 2001 to 2005. He set down and became professor and associate dean of College of Medicine Seoul National University Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology and he was elected as chairman of Korean Society of Urogynecology in 2006. And in 2009 he was selected as director of Cancer Research Institute in 2009 in Seoul National University. In 2009, he also organized International Conference of NAPA and was selected as chairman of Asian Society of Gynecologic Oncology (ASGO) Scientific Committee. In 2012 he was selected as president of Korean Society of Cancer Prevention.

His major interests are molecular mechanisms of tumors, especially the role of tumor microenvironment in cancer cell metabolism and chemoresistance and precision medicine in ovarian cancer. He is particularly interested in the impacts of components of tumor microenvironment in ovarian cancer progression. He has published more than 300 papers in the science citation index (SCI) journals such as BMC cancer, Molecular Carcinogenesis, Cancer Letters, Oncotarget etc. He has received the prize of Scientific Paper, Korean Scientific Association, Grand prize, Korean Society of Colposcopy and Gynecologic Oncology, Academic award, International Conference on Ovarian Cancer, President Award on Prevention in Korean Government and Boryung Cancer Academic Award on Prevention in Korea. His research also involves the effective usage of iron oxide nanoparticles as anti-cancer theranostic agents combined with other imaging and treatment modalities.

r Oon Chern Ein did her BSc (1st Class Hons) in Biotechnology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia before securing a scholarship from the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia to further her doctorate studies in Medical Oncology in University of Oxford, United Kingdom. She then trained at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden as a postdoctoral fellow before returning to Malaysia to serve as a lecturer at Institute for Research in Molecular Medicine, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Chern is an active member of American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and an ambassador of European Association for Cancer Research (EACR). She is also a member of Young Scientists Network- Academy of Sciences Malaysia. She was the sole recipient of the Ranjeet Bhagwan Singh Medical Research Trust Fund 2014. She was also the proud recipient of the Exiqon Young Scientist Award- South East Asia 2014 and L’Oreal-UNESCO for Women in Science National Fellowship 2015. Chern was also selected by the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings to participate in the 65th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Germany in 2015. She was recently awarded the ICRETT Fellowship by Union for International Cancer Control for her work on novel therapeutics in cancer. Her area of research includes understanding the molecular interactions between cancer cells and the tumour microenvironment which contribute to tumour progression and therapeutic failures.

Her work focuses on dissecting the molecular mechanisms conferring to chemoresistance and exploring the benefits of novel agents towards the development of new molecular targeted therapies in cancer. Serving the community is her passion. She enjoys working with the vulnerable and less fortunates. She currently holds a community outreach grant from Penang Education Council to head science outreach workshops targeting the underprivileged children. In addition, she has also been granted a 2-year community outreach grant from Universiti Sains Malaysia to work with MAKNA National Cancer Council Malaysia to disseminate knowledge to cancer survivors and the public through talks, home visits and motivational workshops.

I graduated from University of Delhi India, where a Ph.D. culminates intensive research along with course work units including human biology, polymer science, and spectroscopy. My PhD work is based on the synthesis and biological evaluation of anticancerous and antimicrobial enediyne scaffolds. After PhD, I had a couple of pharmaceutical experience at Sphaera Pharma Research & Development Pvt Ltd., Haryana, India and ChemBioTek- A TCG Lifesciences Ltd. Kolkata, India where I worked in various project related to cancer and Parkinson’s diseases. Then, I completed almost two year Postdoctoral study on malaria project from Department of Chemistry, University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa. Dr. M.R.A. Pillai Ph.D, D.Sc is a radiopharmaceuticals scientist with over forty years of research experience. Dr. Pillai obtained B.Sc from Kerala University, M.Sc and Ph.D from University of Mumbai; and D.Sc from the Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology (INCT), Poland. Dr. Pillai worked as Head, Radiopharmaceuticals Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre during 2000-2003 and 2011-2013. Dr. Pillai was at different times during 1987-94 at the University of Missouri-Columbia as Post Doctoral Research Associate, Visiting Assistant Professor and Visiting Professor. Dr. Pillai worked at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) during 2003-2010. Currently, he is engaged as Group Director in Molecular Cyclotrons, Cochin, Kerala. Dr. Pillai carried out extensive research in radioimmunoassay, radioisotope production and radiopharmaceuticals chemistry. He is an expert in isotope production using both reactor and cyclotron. Dr. Pillai authored over 200 publications including 30 review articles, holds 2 US patents, and presented over 100 invited lectures. He is authored three books. At the IAEA, he was responsible for editing and publication of 13 IAEA books on ‘Cyclotron Produced Radionuclides’, ‘technetium-99m radiopharmaceuticals’, ‘therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals’ and ‘radionuclide generators’. Dr. Pillai visited more than 50 countries in connection with his IAEA work. Dr. Pillai received six IAEA awards including a distinguished service award, a merit award, two team awards and two best publication awards during his seven year tenure.

Dr. Sudhir Ranganath is an Assistant Professor at SIT, Tumkur in the Department of Chemical Engineering. He is also the Principal Investigator of the Laboratory for Biomedical Innovations via Engineering and NanoTechnology (Bio-INvENT Lab) at SIT. He was an IUSSTF Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences & Technology and Brigham & Women’s Hospital, USA & in Stem and JNCASR, India. He was also a Singapore Biomedical Research Council (BMRC) Research Fellow. He received his B.E in Chemical Engineering from Bangalore University, M.S., & Ph.D., in Chemical Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS).

His research interests are at the interface of chemical engineering, nanotechnology, biomaterials, biology and medicine. His research is extramurally funded by BRNS, Govt. of India (Rs. 28 Lakhs) and intramurally by SSES (Rs. 62 Lakhs). He has published over 14 international high impact research articles in the areas of cancer therapy, stem cell biology/bioengineering and drug delivery including Cell Stem Cell, Stem Cell Reports, Scientific Reports, Biomaterials, Pharmaceutical Research, PLoS ONE. He regularly delivers scientific lectures at premier academic institutes. He joined the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Analysis for Food Safety & Biology at Fuzhou University since 2007. Currently, Dr. Xu acts as professor of Shandong University, doctoral supervisor and holds many important posts in the field of otolaryngology, such as the member and vice president of Shandong ENT Hospital Party Committee, the vice chairman of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Youth Committee, and the vice chairman of Shandong Medical Association Otolaryngology Science Branch. Francisco Torrens is lecturer in physical chemistry at the Universitat de València. Dr. Alain L Fymat is a medical-physical scientist and an educator. He was educated at the University of Paris-Sorbonne and the University of California at Los Angeles. He is the current President/CEO and Professor at the International Institute of Medicine and Science with a previous appointment as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Professor at the Weil Institute of Critical Care Medicine. He was formerly Professor of Radiology, Radiological Sciences, Radiation Medicine (Oncology), Critical Care Medicine, and Physics at several U.S. and European Universities. Previously, he was Deputy Director (Western Region) of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (Office of Research Oversight), and Director of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Center and for a time Acting Chair of Radiology at its Loma Linda, California Medical Center. He has extensively published (~ 425 publications including patents, books & monographs, book chapters, refereed articles) and has lectured extensively in the USA, Europe, Africa and Asia. Dr. Fymat’s current research interests lie at the interface between science and medicine, particularly cancer/oncology, molecular/personal/precision medicine, nanomedicine, human genetics/ epigenetics/ ecogenetics, and pharmacogenomics. Adama Ly is Doctor in Immunology and Oncology at University Paris XI and was member of the Doctoral school of Gustave Roussy cancer Institute (Villejuif, France). Dr. Ly received a degree in Biomedical Engineering and Innovations Management (Pierre and Marie Curie University, Paris, France). He graduated in Master of Social Health (MSH) from Ecoles des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (School of High studies in social Sciences) (Paris).
