A deficiency of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is strongly linked to human mental health as well as an increased risk of osteoporosis and fractures because it plays a critical role in calcium homeostasis and bone metabolism. Fat-soluble vitamin D is essential for maintaining calcium homeostasis and healthy bones. Vitamin D3, or cholecalciferol, is the most biologically active of the group of vitamins. It acts by synthesizing in the skin when exposed to UVB radiation, which is a specific wavelength of light from the sun. An increased risk of osteoporosis, a disorder characterized by low bone mass and structural degeneration of bone structure, which increases the susceptibility to fractures, has been directly linked to vitamin D3 insufficiency. Accurate and reliable detection of vitamin D3 levels is essential for monitoring bone health and assessing the risk of osteoporosis. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of the latest advancements in rapid and reliable enrichment-based detection techniques for vitamin D3 in the context of bone density assessment. Study explored the principles, advantages, and limitations of various analytical methods, including liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), immunoassays, and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Additionally, in this study investigations have been done on exploring specific foods treated and enriched with all specific required nutrient components to cure specific Vit D deficiencies as holistic approach to cure and prevent associated diseases.
