Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system. Though PD is primarily a motor speech disorder during the initial stages, as the disease progresses, a gradual decline in linguistic aspects is observed as well. However, there is a dearth of studies focusing on the discourse abilities in PD, especially in Indian context. This study aims at documenting the macro linguistic and micro linguistic domains of discourse in individuals with PD with varying onset duration. 3 individuals with PD were included in the study with the onset duration of 1 year, 4 years and 10 years respectively. Their performance was compared with an age matched neuro typical individual. A narrative sample from the participants were audio recorded and was orthographically transcribed. The transcribed samples were analyzed based on macro and micro linguistic domains. The results revealed that both the macro and micro linguistic aspects were affected in individuals with PD. However, the macro linguistic aspect was comparatively good in an individual with the onset duration of one year. This proves it is important to focus not only the motor aspects during assessment and the intervention process; but also, the language aspects in PD are ought to be focused to improve the quality of life in such individuals.
