Biography :

Dr. Jie Yang is currently a professor in the College of Biological Sciences and Engineering at Fuzhou University. She received her Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology from Ohio University, USA and worked as a postdoctoral researcher in a Honolulu-based biotech company Kuehnle AgroSystems, Inc. After she joined Fuzhou University, China in 2009, she has been working with enzymes, especially ligninolytic enzymes such as laccases.

Research Interest :

Current research interests focus on enzyme engineering and applications, including:  Isolation and breeding of bacteria and fungi producing enzymes including cellulases, laccases, agarases, etc.  Enzyme engineering, purification, heterologous expression and characterization  Fermentation media development and process optimization in shake flasks and 5-L fermenter  Enzyme gene transcription profiling with transcriptomics and qPCR and transcription engineering  Enzyme applications in feed, food and bioremediation and identification of biotransformation pathways
