Biography :

Dr Baranidharan G.R. received his basic veterinary degree (1997), Masters (2000) and Ph.D (2015) from Madras Veterinary College, Tamil Nadu Veterinary Animal Sciences University, Chennai, India. His interests are narrowed in hematology and small animal transfusion medicine. He did a stint of clinical clerkship training in Dog Blood Banking and Diagnostic Imaging from 18 June 2012 to 14 July 2012 at the Ohio Veterinary Medical Center, Ohio college of Veterinary medicine, Columbus, U.S.A under Dr Guillermo Couto. He was pivotal in the preparation storage and transfusion of dog blood components, fresh frozen plasma, platelet components, packed RBC’s. He identified an Indian native hound breed “Chippiparai” a safe blood donor amongst the indigenous hounds in India and also found the prevalence of dog blood group DEA 1.1 in India.

Research Interest :

His future interests are more in Hemoglobin Based Oxygen Carriers and canine/ feline blood typing modalities, indigenous red blood cell antigens, platelet disorders, thrombocytopenia and anemia research.
