Biography :

Dr. Murtaza Kamal is a Pediatric Cardiologist at Star Hospitals, Hyderabad India. After his training in Pediatrics from renowned medical school “VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, India, he received special training in pediatric hemato-oncology from the prestigious “Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, India. He is presently receiving training in neonatal, pediatric and congenital heart diseases. He is an editorial board member of several national and international peer reviewed journals. He is a active reviewer of several journals. He is a dynamic academician who is known for his innovative approaches and methodologies he adopts in teaching. He has over 35 publications in various scientific journals. He has several paper presentations at national and international platforms. He has received several honours and awards during his medical carrier. His paper “Effect of timing of cord clamping on iron stores of infants born to anemic mothers” received the best paper award in Indian Academy of Pediatrics annual conference in 2013. He has several prizes in quizzes and debates in different topics. He has special interest in cardiac haemodynamics and functions in iron overloaded thalassemic major patients. He has been invited as a faculty in several CMEs and conferences. He is a doctor with whom his patients love to talk and play with. His special process of imparting knowledge to his patients and their parents is greatly appreciated.

Research Interest :

He is presently working on these iron overloaded multitransfused thalassemia major patients and their ventricular dysfunction through several non- invasive modalities. His another study presently is on Kawasaki Disease in children. He is a dynamic researcher who has several projects both national and international, to work on.
