Biography :

Prof. Masatoshi Takeda, MD, PhD, was educated at Dartmouth College(BA), Osaka University Medical School (MD), and Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine (PhD). After a post-doc at University of Florida, and Baylor College of Medicine, he was appointed to the Chairman Professor of Psychiatry, Osaka University in 1996. In March 2015, he retired from the chairman professor of psychiatry at Osaka University by age, and has become the President of Aino University. Prof. Takeda has been involved with basic and clinical psychiatry research based on his background of molecular genetics, cell biology, and proteomics elucidating the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease, schizophrenia, depression and other major psychiatric disorders. He has published more than 400 papers in English, and more than 400 papers in Japanese. His research topics cover molecular pathogenesis of neurodegenerative dementia, biomarkers of Alzheimer disease, clinico-pathogenesis of mood disorders, endophenotypes of schizophrenia, molecular genetic research of psychiatric disorders, and cognitive impairment in psychiatric disorders. Prof. Takeda served the President of Japanese Society of Biological Psychiatry (2006-2013), and the President of International Psychogeriatric Association (2009-2011). Now he is the President of Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology (2012-present), President of WFSBP (2015-present), and the Secretary for Scientific Meetings of WPA (2014-present).

Research Interest :

His research topics cover molecular pathogenesis of neurodegenerative dementia, biomarkers of Alzheimer disease, clinico-pathogenesis of mood disorders, endophenotypes of schizophrenia, molecular genetic research of psychiatric disorders, and cognitive impairment in psychiatric disorders.
